CANTABRIAN CHAMOIS (Rupicrapra rupicapra parva)
The Cantabrian Chamois is the animal most representative of the Cantabrian Mountains range, dominating the higher altitudes. There are about 6,500 in and around the Picos, of which over half are found in the western range massif. This beautiful animal is quite easy to see at altitudes above 1,200 meters.
Hunting season; 1 May-20 December.
Hunting areas; North-west part of the country, Leon, Cantabria, Palencia and Asturias provinces.
